Something you should know about TAO...
When we say we're aspiring to build something unfkwithable, we mean we're trying to think of every possible contigency -- and plan accordingly.

Hey Rebels & Changemakers,
There have been a few questions lately about the claim that we are âthe only social media platform that cannot sell out by design.â
And while unfuckwithability is an aspiration, not a guarantee, we are trying to think of every possible contingency to keep this platform safely in the hands of the People.
Folks have raised some very fair concerns that a platform that is truly for the People will get taken down. And hereâs the thing: We want to build this in such a way that someone can just copy/paste the codebase and governance system so that if this does get taken downâŠanother one springs up in its place.
Like the head of a hydra: Try to kill it and youâll make it stronger.
Like resilient little weeds poking up between the concrete cracks of extractive economics.
Like a mycellium network: Decentralized, underground, and impossible to uproot once it spreads.

While everyone else is playing the same old startup game (raise money, give away control, sell to the highest bidder), weâre:
Incorporating as a DAO LLC â a legal wrapper that merges the flexibility of a U.S. LLC with the decentralized governance of a DAO. No shares. No equity. No puppet masters behind the curtain.
Opting for 1:1 non-transferable soulbound token â your voice in the community. One person, one vote. No whales.
All profit is reinvested into the community, not extracted by VCs or shareholders.
Weâre even considering adding an irrevocable trust for that final boss level of âno one can ever buy this thing, ever.â

And before you ask why we didnât go with a B-Corp or nonprofit, we had good reasons and I highly recommend checking out our hour-long roundtable with three incredible experts for the full answer. Here it is in case you missed it:
Every time a unique user (meaning you can only do this once) clicks on the ad below, we get a small kickback of $1-$2. It costs you nothing â just a tap of the index finger to help cover our expenses.
This helps us cover expenses like our PM & design software, incorporation fees, and more.

From Wall Street to Web3: A Chat with Michael Muyot
If Mr. Rogers, Buckminster Fuller, and your favorite AI nerd had a baby, and that baby grew up, left Wall Street and started a DAO in South Carolina â youâd get Michael Muyot.
Michael is the founder of APEX DAO, one of the first 500 DAOs legally registered in the U.S. He left 25 years in ESG analytics behind to build hyperlocal, regenerative economies from the ground up. No VCs, no extractive nonsense.
In this informal coffee chat we talked about:
Soulbound mission coins (could be a rewards-based part of TAOâs fundraising strategy!)
Proof of Impact > Proof of Work
20% of profits going to Indigenous and bioregional projects
Barefoot-running-for-rewards (yes, really)

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at our UX Research
Our community-first vision doesnât just live in our values. Itâs embedded in how we build.
Kirsti, one of our contributors (and fiancĂ© to dev team member Tommy), just dropped a post walking through some highlights in our UX research process: how weâre gathering feedback, structuring interviews, and letting real user needs drive feature decisions.
Itâs a nerdy peek into the soul of our product design â and a great read if youâre curious how weâre actually listening!

Huge shoutout to Henning for running with his own designs and helping others with theirs. Iâm going to be so happy no matter what we end up with!!
Submissions are due 4/15/2025.

Thatâs it for this week! If you are a DAO expert or a trust attorney (or have a warm intro), respond to this email. Iâm looking for you đ
